At Medically Trained Coaching, we bridge the gap between medicine and fitness. Unlike typical personal trainers, our coaching is led by medically qualified doctors who understand the science behind sustainable health, fitness, and lifestyle change. And unlike traditional healthcare services—where short appointments, single-issue consultations, and lack of follow-up often limit progress—we provide ongoing support, accountability, and expert guidance tailored to your long-term success.

Becoming a Member

Book in for a free, no obligation exploratory consultation. This is a chance to see if our coaching service is what you are looking for. We’ll discuss your health ambitions, explain our approach and show what we can provide.

Once a member, you’ll receive an enrolment package via email. This includes some enrolment forms, access to our coaching app, and you will be invited to schedule your Initial Consultation with your Doctor Coach.

All members have a bespoke plan based on their background and goals. Our Initial Consultation is where we develop your coaching plan - the steps we will take to achieve your goals. Your App will be populated with your plan, so you can see your daily tasks and goals, track your exercise and nutrition, and utilise the open messaging service direct to your Doctor Coach.

Each week, you will be invited to schedule your weekly check-in with your doctor-coach. Check-in’s are where we can monitor your progress, tweak your coaching agenda, troubleshoot any concerns, and keep you accountable!

Unlike what many experience in a typical 10-minute NHS GP appointment, we take the time to get to the root causes, form a plan and coach you through the process. Your Doctor-Coach
I am Dr. Sean Harvey Simpson. My journey into coaching has been shaped by my unique background. I started my career gaining a solid foundation as a medical doctor (MBChB), then specialising in family medicine (MRCGP) and gaining a post-graduate certification in Sport & Exercise Medicine (PgDip SEM). My clinical practise is varied, but the bulk involves managing reversible chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension and obesity and helping patients overcome mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression. I have cultivated a deep passion for helping my patients overcome their physical and psychological barriers to health over 8 years of clinical practise.
Aside from medicine, I commissioned from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) and went on to serve as a platoon commander in the 4th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment after passing the arduous Pre-Parachute Selection (PPS) course, commonly known as P-Company. This has provided a unique insight into arduous training, physical and psychological resilience and leadership.

The Why
An epidemic of ‘metabolic syndrome’, consisting of obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus and high cholesterol has amplified disease, from cancer to severe cardiovascular disease; the leading non-communicable disease resulting in premature death.¹ ²
Multiple risk factors ranging from physical inactivity, an unhealthy (or misguided) diet, alcohol, smoking, environmental pollutants, stress and poor sleep are the major lifestyle factors which contribute to metabolic syndrome.³
Critically, often the focus is ‘managing’ metabolic syndrome, rather than reversing and restoring normative metabolic function. This is the primary objective of Medically Trained Coaching.
Obesity has nearly tripled between 1975 and 2016 in the United Kingdom. ⁵

We offer bespoke camps and courses on Fitness, Nutrition, Leadership and Mental Resilience. These courses are transformative - incorporating intensive coaching, interactive workshops, incredulous theory and rewarding practical sessions, as well as lots of fun.
